Computer Training

The 'Pewter Guy knows computers (and some other stuff too...)

Computer Training is done in your own home or office at a convenient time for you and your family using your own computer equipment. This custom training can include such things as:

  1. Helping you learn the finer points of the computer you already own so you can work and play more efficiently with it. I do this using one-on-one tutoring techniques to make sure you understand the basics of how your computer works, how to use the operating system (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows XP - but I don't know Mac's - sorry), and how to use the software that came with your computer (maybe you got Office XP, Word2000 or Quicken 2004, Works2002 or something else bundled with your PC. Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer come with Windows and most people get mixed up about these.
  2. My custom training can also include: learning how to purchase and use other software; how to surf the internet; how to use electronic mail (e-mail) with attachments; how to design and publish your own web pages; how to 'develop', use and send digital photos and/or scanned images; how to use a Personal/Desktop Information Manager (PIM/DIM) like Lotus Organizer or Microsoft Outlook; how to configure and use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) like a Palm Connected Organizer© which many people still refer to as a "Palm Pilot" despite the fact that the newer models do not use that name.

My tutoring fee is $30.00 per hour ($25.00 per hour for University of Virginia colleagues) and there is a one hour minimum charge per home or office visit, with a possible $20.00 travel fee depending on where you live in relation to my normal driving route (which is the general Charlottesville - Scottsville area). I will travel up to 70 miles if necessary and my travel charge for something like a trip to Richmond is 32.5¢ per mile. I guarantee your satisfaction and offer net 30 day billing.

Click here to send me an e-mail, or call me at 434-286-2529 evenings and weekends, to set up an appointment. (Please note that I do this work on the side so we're talking about evenings and weekends).
