Web Page Design

The 'Pewter Guy knows computers (and some other stuff too...)

Keeping it simple is usually the best plan!

1. I can either help you design and publish web pages or I can do it for you. I use Microsoft FrontPage 2003 to write and edit the HTML code (Hypertext Markup Language), so to use all of the features FrontPage has built-in, the server which hosts your site must have the FrontPage server extensions installed if I am going to publish your web pages for you. (We can always FTP the HTML to your ISP without the neat features FrontPage offers).

2. I can digitize your images for you by scanning in existing photos or other hard copy using my Visioneer One Touch 7600 which is a 36 bit color scanner featuring 600 x 1200dpi optical resolution (2400 x 2400dpi interpolated resolution). These specs mean it recognizes more than 68 billion colors internally to provide photo- realistic scanning.

3. I can take digital photos for you with my Nikon COOLPIX 990 Digital Camera, which takes photos at resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 pixels. (I would reduce this resolution for photos used on the web since resolution this high is more appropriate for quality printing than for web work. A computer monitor displays a low number of pixels since they are relatively low resolution devices. A 17 inch monitor screen might measure 12.5 inches horizontally. If it is set to 1024x768 screen size, then the image is obviously 1024 dots / 12.5 inches = 82 dpi resolution in that case. A 15 inch monitor at 800x600 might be 75 dpi. A 14 inch monitor at 640x480 might be about 65 dpi).

4. I can provide digital clip art and images from my extensive library of clip art and digital images. I also use some really neat photo and graphics editing programs such as: Adobe Photoshop Elements; Microsoft PhotoDraw; Microsoft Picture It!; and Macromedia Fireworks. I can also convert your documents to Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) to ensure exact replication when posting thing to the web when you don't want to lose the formatting of existing documents.

5. I can help you select and register your own domain name and web hosting service which allows you to have your own web address and e-mail addresses - and a server on which your web pages would reside.

5. My fees for web page design, digital photos, scans and services are very reasonable, are all ala carte, and are as follow:
