Biblical Unitarianism is not to be confused with
Unitarian Universalism. Biblical Unitarians believe in one God, the
Father, and one Lord, Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 8:6 & Eph. 4:5, 6). The
"Holy Spirit" is another name for God our father and the "gift of holy
spirit" is God's gift to every believer at the moment of his / her new
birth as a Christian.

For the benefit primarily of our immediate and extended family, I have made a
start on a web site which will
feature photos, family information, a synopsis of
my navy career (eventually...), 'miscellaneous stuff' that tickles my
fancy and my political thoughts and
opinions.

"Any man who may be asked ... what he did to

| "I've heard it said that it's the warrior, not the reporter, who has given
us the freedom of the press. It's the warrior, not the poet, who has given
freedom of speech. It's the warrior, not the lawyer, who has given us the
right to a fair trail. It's the warrior who salutes the flag, serves under
the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag. But most importantly,
it's the warrior who gives us courage, faith and hope for today and for
tomorrow."

" I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people,
by the people, for the people, whose just powers are derived from the
consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign Nation of
many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established
upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which
American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe
it is my duty to my Country to love it, to support its constitution; to
obey its laws; to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies."

USS BANG (SS-385)
(Clicking on the photo takes you to this boat's web
site)
This was actually my second boat, but since I served
on the USS ENTEMEDOR (SS-340) for only a short time from Mar-Jul, 1961 - I
consider this my first boat and it was on Bang that I first qualified in
submarines (on March 18, 1962 in Rotterdam, Holland). The Bang was a Guppy IIA when I served on her from July 1961
to December 1962. (I had reported aboard ENTEMEDOR for duty as an RM3 directly from my
previous duty station at the Naval Communications Stations in Newport,
Rhode Island where I had served a one-year special tour after graduating
from RM "A" school in Norfolk, Virginia. Since I had not attended basic
Sub School, our Hospital Corpsman panicked when he learned I had not even
been through the Emergency Escape Training Tank and immediately arranged
for me to go through that). While aboard Bang, which was home ported at
State Pier in New London, Connecticut, she completed a four-month cruise
to the Mediterranean which was modified to be a European 'Good Will'
cruise. I reenlisted for six years while at sea and left Bang as an
RM2(SS), heading to RM "B" School in Bainbridge, Maryland.

USS JOHN C. CALHOUN (SSBN-630) Ship's Patch
(clicking on this image takes you to
this boat's Veterans Association web site, for which Kenn is the
Webmaster)
I was a member of the commissioning
crew (a plank owner) of the Calhoun, requalified in submarines
(SSBN-627 class) and served aboard her as a
Gold Crew Radioman from December 1963 to October 1968. After
commissioning, sea trials and the shakedown cruise, which
included launching a Polaris A-3 missile at Cape Canaveral, I
completed seven 70-day submerged patrols. I reported aboard as an
RM1(SS) and made Chief - RMC(SS) while aboard. I was the Gold Crew Leading
Radioman for four patrols and served as the Gold Crew Qualification Chief
Petty Officer for one year.

USS FORRESTAL (CV-59) Ship's Patch
(clicking on this image takes you to this ship's
'Association' web site
I served as the Assistant Communications Officer on
this attack aircraft carrier (my only sea tour outside of the submarine
service) from February 1974 through October 1976. During this time the
ship made two 6 1/2 month deployments to the Mediterranean and was the
host ship in New York harbor during the gala bicentennial celebrations on
July 4th, 1976. It was on Forrestal, anchored just south of the Verrazano
Narrows Bridge, that President Gerald Ford rang the ship's bell on the
flight deck at Noon that day to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the
signing of the American Declaration of Independence. I reported aboard as
a LTJG (frocked from CWO2) and left as a full LT - returning to the
submarine service as the COMSUBLANT BCT Officer.
|

Having served twenty years on active duty with the United
States Navy I retired on August 1, 1979 as a Lieutenant (O3-E) and shortly
thereafter joined the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), of
which I am now a Life
Member.
